Starling Spa Treehouse

High in the canopy, with nothing below but birdsong and the occasional deer, the world goes quiet. Starling is for anyone who needs to climb out of their life for a few days and let the forest set the pace.

Starling is a Scandi-inspired treehouse set low in a wooded Devon valley on the edge of Dartmoor, wrapped on every side by trees, completely private.

This is somewhere to switch off properly. Retreat to the spa deck to soak in the hot tub under the stars, sleep with the canopy at the window, and let whole days pass doing very little. The only schedule is the one the forest keeps.

As you cross the bridge into the trees, the week you arrived with starts to loosen its grip.

The Treehouse

Inside, soft wooden interiors, a wood burner and gentle lighting make Starling feel both luxurious and grounding. The super-king bed sits up in the mezzanine under the eaves, and a well-equipped kitchen and snug lounge mean you never need to leave if you don't want to. There's a hidden bunk room for little ones too, so this works as easily for a small family as it does for two. Out on the deck, a copper bathtub waits for long, slow soaks beneath the stars, with nothing to do but watch the light fade through the trees.

The Setting

Starling has its own private spa deck, exclusive to your stay - a wood-fired sauna where you can sit and watch deer wander through the woods below, a hot tub among the treetops, and an open-air shower to cool off beneath the canopy. Beyond the treehouse lie twenty acres of woodland, meadow and apple orchard to wander, and Dartmoor National Park just up the road, with some of the darkest skies in the country for stargazing. But mostly, this is a place to stay exactly where you are, high in the trees, and let everything else fall away.
